Horses and carbohydrates tip šŸ“

For horses that are diagnosed with or are prone to obesity, Laminitis, Cushing's or Equine Metabolic Syndrome, be sure to take into consideration the increase in non-structural carbohydrates in fall pasture due to frost ā„ļø

Take note, not ALL carbohydrates are bad; in fact all horses NEED 'structural' carbohydrates (fiber) in their diet. Depending on the horse, some need to limit the amount of 'non-structural' carbohydrates in their full diet, as non-structural carbohydrates are sugar and starch.

Hopefully this helps to know the difference between 'structural' carbohydrates and 'non-structural' carbohydrates šŸ“ And of course knowing your horse and what their 'normal' looks like, sure comes in handy.
